It’s getting cold… it must be time for porridge… this apple and cinnamon porridge sounds lovely.
- 1 Cup Rolled Oats
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Water
- Cinnamon (Nutmeg works well too)
- Put the oats, milk and water into the slow cooker a few hours before you plan to switch it on. This will apparently let the flavours really soak in and means you can stir it once the oats have soaked up some of the milk and are a bit stodgier – The original recipe suggests this will stop it being lumpy.
- Grate in the apple and 1/4 teaspoon or so of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Just before bed, switch the slow cooker on at the lowest setting and it’ll be ready and waiting for you in the morning.
A lumpy disaster. It looked disgusting & was welded to the sides of the slow cooker. Why??? The Spiced Porridge I made last year didn’t stick
